AccuWeather forecast for NYC, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut

NEW YORK (WABC) -- We start off breezy on Saturday, but it will be a smooth transition from spring to summer this weekend.
As this transition unfolds, the start of summer arrives early Sunday morning at 4:24 a.m., and the seasonal debut is expected to feel fitting. The weekend overall looks inviting, with lower humidity and a mix of sunshine and clouds keeping temperatures generally in the 80s. Father's Day, in particular, is shaping up to be pleasant, with dry conditions dominating despite the slight chance of a stray shower. For most, it will be a comfortable day to spend outdoors.
The calm pattern does take a turn early next week. Monday is expected to bring a more impactful round of rain, with the potential for a soaking event that could drop over an inch in some locations. This may lead to ponding on roadways and create challenging travel conditions during the day. While rainfall intensity should ease by evening, conditions could still be damp and sluggish, particularly for those heading out later in the day.
Beyond that, improvement arrives quickly. Sunshine returns on Tuesday, followed by a stretch of beautiful weather that continues deeper into next week, reinforcing the idea that summer is getting off to a comfortable and bright start despite a brief interruption.
