DODGE CITY, Kan. -- Tornadoes were reported near Dodge City, Kansas, during what's expected to be a busy week of severe weather in the Great Plains states.
On Monday, a half dozen tornadoes were spotted in Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas. There were no reports of serious damage or injuries.
ABC7 Meteorologist Dallas Raines said when there is cool weather in the western states, it usually translates to severe weather in the Plains states because all of the cold air flows across from the west and collides with warm tropical air from the Gulf of Mexico this time of year.
More storms are in the forecast all week, with Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma and northeastern Colorado in the crosshairs on Tuesday.
On Thursday, forecasters say tornadoes are possible in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.
