Westport residents alerted following home break-ins
Sade Baderinwa reports on the manhunt that is underway after two houses were broken into in a Connecticut town.

WESTPORT, Connecticut (WABC) -- Police in Westport, Connecticut are urging residents to be vigilant following a pair of break-ins at homes in one neighborhood.

Both crimes happened early Thursday morning on Bonnie Brook Road.

Westport police are urging residents to be vigilant Thursday in the wake of an attempted burglary and one that took place while the homeowners were sleeping on Bonnie Brook Road.

Early ThursdaAy morning, a homeowner awoke to the sound of the front-door screen being cut, police said. The resident made noise and the suspect ran off.

At 6:45 a.m., officers were called to another Bonnie Brook Road home after the owners awoke to find that someone had entered their home and stolen about $4,000 in electronics and cash. The burglar got in through an unlocked door.

Westport police called on resident to remain alert to their surroundings and call police should anything seem out of place or suspicious.

Residents should lock all doors and leave exterior lights on at night.
