L.I.E. lanes reopen in Syosset

SYOSSET Authorities say the leak prompted the precautionary closing of the eastbound lanes near Exit 44, the exit for the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway, at around 8:15 a.m.

The westbound lanes were not closed during the incident, though westbound traffic was at a bumper-to-bumper standstill back to Exit 48, Round Swamp Road, as the result of rubberneckers.

During the closure, police redirected eastbound vehicles onto the Northern State Parkway at Exit 42.

The highway was reopened at around 9:15 a.m., and traffic delays continued through the rest of the morning rush.
