Investigators are digging up a backyard on Long Island looking for a body that may be buried there. It's happening in East Islip and that's where Eyewitness News reporter Lauren DeFranco is with the story.

We're told Suffolk County Police have been here since 8 a.m. Tuesday morning assisting NYPD detectives in what appears to be a cold case surrounding a possible murder that took place dozens of years ago.

Police looking for evidence brought in a back-hoe to dig up a backyard here at 28 Campbell Lane.

Law enforcement sources tell us a woman told investigators she believes her father killed her sister dozens of years ago and buried the body in the backyard.

Police have been literally digging for evidence. The investigation continues.
