9/11 commission chairman endorses Obama

INDIANAPOLIS Hamilton says Obama understands the urgent need for an American leader to restore respect for this country in the world. The former representative also says the Illinois Democrat has the ability to bring people together and not drive them apart.

Hamilton is a southern Indiana Democrat who co-chaired the Iraq Study Group, a bipartisan commission that assessed U.S. policy in Iraq.

He served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee during his more than three decades in Congress and is best known as vice chairman of the panel that investigated the September Eleventh terrorist attacks.
