NEW YORK

Con Ed says power has been restored to thousands of customers who lost power during Tuesday night's storms.

Spokeswoman Elizabeth Clark says most of the roughly 18,500 customers in Westchester County and the Bronx have power again.

She says about 200 customers still are without power because utility workers are having trouble accessing equipment.

On Wednesday tens of thousands of households on the Rockaway Peninsula and on Long Island briefly lost power because of a blackout traced to a substation in Valley Stream.

A spokesman for the Long Island Power Authority said power was restored after about 30 minutes. Upwards of 70,000 customers in the Rockaways and in southwest Nassau County on Long Island were affected.
