Police in the Bronx Sunday morning are questioning the roommate of a woman who was found brutally murdered. Police say the woman, identified as 59-year-old Olga Rodriguez, was discovered in her basement apartment at 715 Eagle Avenue in the Melrose section.

Rodriguez's landlord found her tied up, gagged and stabbed several times to the torso in her bathtub, according to police.

The building superintendent discovered the body when he went to collect rent. Instead, he found a trail of blood and quickly called 911.

The victim's ex-husband, Pedro Rodriguez, cradled his son in his arms as his the boy wailed, knowing he will never see his mother again.

"He called me," Rodriguez said. "He's crying. He told me my mother is die. My mother is die. He said somebody killed her."

Neighbor Mike Evans told Eyewitness News that Olga Rodriguez complained last week that her roommate was using drugs and she didn't want to live with the woman anymore.

Neighbors say they never heard of any problems and that Rodriguez kept to herself.

"I don't understand what happened," one neighbor said. "How could anyone do that to a sweet lady? She was a sweetheart."

No arrests have been made.
