Woman accused of DWI with kid in car

LONG ISLAND Authorities say a Suffolk County police officer responded to a call of a vehicle veering into a wooded area on the eastbound Long Island Expressway Service Road at William Floyd Parkway in Shirley at approximately 3:40 p.m.

Responding officers reportedly found 25-year-old Crystal Visconti, of Middle Island, had driven her Ford Taurus through a wooded area and crashed into a tree.

Through observations and Visconti's oral statements, police say they determined that Visconti was under the influence of drugs. No injuries were sustained by Visconti or her daughter. The child is in her grandfather's custody, and Child Protective Services was notified.

Visconti is charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and endangering the welfare of a child.
