In the United States demand is down four percent and experts believe the days of excess are over and conservation has become a way of life.
The price of a barrel of oil was at an all time high of $148 just four weeks ago, now its down to $115 per barrel. That represents a drop of twenty percent.
Analysts say the decline in prices is a direct result of government keeping closer tabs on gas speculators and believe the price could drop another 25 to 30 cents by the time we get to labor day.
