The school's Bioacoustics Research Program and the state Department of Environmental Conservation collaborated on the audio recordings as part of a study aimed at developing better policies to protect whales.
The researchers say they hope that knowing the travel routes of the whales will help ships that sometimes strike and kill them to be more aware of the animals' presence.
Researchers say they recorded the calls of endangered fin, humpback and North Atlantic right whales from March to June.
