Legally Blonde to end Broadway run

NEW YORK "Legally Blonde The Musical" will close Oct. 19 at the Palace Theatre after a run of 595 performances, producer Hal Luftig announced Wednesday. A national tour is already in progress and will continue into 2009.

The musical, directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, currently stars Bailey Hanks, winner of the MTV reality show "Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods." It was based on the hit movie starring Reese Witherspoon and the novel by Amanda Brow.

The show, which has music and lyrics by Nell Benjamin and Laurence O'Keefe, and a book by Heather Hach, tells the story of a determined young woman, who, when dumped by her boyfriend, goes to Harvard Law School, which her ex also attends.
