Police: Woman forged check, bribed detective

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. Twenty-six-year-old April Mayo is being arraigned Friday on charges of bribery and criminal possession of a forged instrument.

She was arrested earlier this week, after police say she offered the detective $250 to let her go.

Police say that in July, she cashed a $6,000 check belonging to the elderly woman she was caring for in the past year.

Police could not immediately provide the name of her attorney.
