Two women struck, killed by cabs

Two young women crossing a Manhattan street early Saturday were killed by two cabs - struck by one cab that knocked them into the path of the second.Police say the two were crossing East 14th Street at First Avenue just after 3 a.m. when they were hit by the first yellow cab, headed west. Both were thrown into eastbound traffic and struck by another taxi.

One woman died at the scene. The other was taken to Beth Israel Hospital, where she was pronounced dead several hours later. Both were 26 years old.

Police say no charges have been filed in the accident, but a probe is under way.

The victims were identified by police as Stephanie Dees, of Queens, and Ann Sullivan, of Albany.
