Tips on saving money online

October 25, 2008 CNET.com can help your listeners avoid these fees and save more money!

1) Free shipping - Many online companies offer now free shipping with purchase. Amazon's most notable for free shipping when spending over $25 (certain restrictions apply). You can find out about such deals at the website: FreeShipping.org - the site includes more than 750 name-brand stores with codes for free shipping.

2) Online "club membership" - Band with your friends to create a common account for club memberships such as "Amazon Prime" - a small yearly fee gives you free two-day shipping, no minimum purchase required. Overstock's "Club O" is an even cheaper membership that offers a 5% coupon off every Overstock.com order and free shipping every time.

3) Promo Codes - Another option is to search for Promo Codes - a quick google using the words "online coupon," "promo codes" or "online codes" and the name of the retailer you wish to shop from will generally yield several online coupons you can use. Other sites, like bradsdeals.com or CNET's own cheapskate blog scour the web for the best deals for you.

4) Refurbished - Certain products, especially pricey electronics, can be bought refurbished. Refurbished goods are gadgets that have been repaired and are almost as good as new, but at a savings!
