Lieberman to meet with top CT Dem

HARTFORD Lieberman has been trying to mend political fences after upsetting many Democrats nationwide by supporting Republican John McCain's presidential campaign.

Connecticut Democratic Party officials considered censuring him and asking him to leave the party, but decided instead to send him a letter expressing their disappointment with him.

U.S. Senate Democrats voted last month to condemn statements Lieberman made during the presidential campaign.

Lieberman, the Democratic nominee for vice president in 2000, won the 2006 election as an independent after losing the Democratic primary.
