Livery driver murdered

Khadim Hussain Bhatti was driving his livery cab when he was shot during an attempted robbery. Police say the 63-year-old driver was shot in the stomach near West 33rd Street, near Neptune Avenue, just after 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

Bhatti was taken to Coney Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He worked part-time at Plaza Town Car Service. Bhatti worked the long hours to provide for his family here and back in his native Pakistan.

Authorities were looking for as many as three suspects. No arrests were immediately made.

Another livery driver was shot in the head Monday during a robbery at a store next to his workplace in the nearby Sheepshead Bay area. The shooting left him in critical condition.
