Subway derailment on the UWS

UPPER WEST SIDE The express D train was traveling south from the Bronx. The derailment occurred near the West 81st Street station at 1:05 p.m.

Two cars were knocked off the tracks.

No injuries were reported.

A broken rail was reported at the station, but it was not known if that was the cause.

Riders moved to another train.

As a result of derailment:

  • No service on the C trains the entire line.
  • A trains are running local only.
  • B service has been restored.

    Repairs were expected to continue overnight. MTA hoped to have full service restored by Saturday.
