Another woman shot in East New York

BROOKLYN Authorities say Ihsia Golphin was shot in the chest as she walked past a Chinese restaurant at 1269 Sutter Avenue just before midnight Wednesday.

She was pronounced dead a short time later at Brookdale University Hospital.

Golphin was a part-time student who was walking to a friend's apartment at the time of the shooting. She is the fourth woman to be shot in the neighborhood a day.

Eleven-year-old Samantha Edgars was shot in her house Wednesday afternoon. And earlier, two women - 23-year-old Jeanette Martinez and 19-year-old Keila Ocasio - were shot on a nearby street. Martinez was killed and Ocasio remains in critical condition at Brookdale. Nypd info: Wednesday, 02-25-2009 at approximately 2356 hours in front of 1269 Sutter Avenue, within the confines of the 75 Precinct, police responded to a call of a PERSON SHOT. Upon arrival, police discovered a F/B/21 with a gunshot wound to the chest. EMS arrived and transported the victim to Brookdale hospital where she was pronounced DOA. Currently, there are no arrest(s). The investigation is ongoing. The identity of the DOA is pending proper family notification.
