Hundreds show up to begin the protest after 7 a.m. Security was on hand to make sure it remained a peaceful protest.
Hundreds more showed up at a heated meeting on Monday night to call for an investigation and Murphy's ouster.
The principal has been described has Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
"He's segregating the kids. He's making it seem the Indian kids are the smartest in the school, and the black ones dumb," said Anastasia Daniel.
Parents say racism is just one of the reasons Murphy should be fired as IS8 principal. Teachers say he is verbally and emotionally abusive.
"He says I wrote incompetent because I couldn't write the word stupid," said special education teacher David Sparagean.
Murphy allegedly wrote up Sparagean for letting a child use the bathroom. Last Wednesday EMS was called to the school after another special education teacher says Murphy yelled at her so harshly, she required medical attention.
Both the Department of Education and the Teachers Union have promised a full investigation although they say the school's performance has improved since Murphy started at the school in 2005.
