Police have blocked off 42nd Street near Fort Hamilton Parkway because of the double shooting. It happened inside a home and was reported around 2:30 p.m.
Authorities say two men, both Salvadorians, were shot in the basement apartment. By the time police arrived, one of the men had already died. The other victim was found in the backyard with a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to the hospital, where he is now listed in stable condition.
Police are searching for the gunman and a motive.
