Family tied up, robbed in home invasion

Police say four to six armed men, one of whom may have been posing as a cop, invaded a home in Freeport Tuesday afternoon.The group apparently tied up a man and four children before robbing the family.

The incident happened on Washburn Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Police say the family members were tied up with cord from an electric heater. The thieves made off with an unspecified amount of cash.

No shots were fired and no one was hurt, according to police.

The victims reportedly told authorities that one of the gunmen wore what looked like a police shield around his neck.
