Father saves son, killed by car

THE BRONX Police say 36-year-old Miguel Colon was crossing the street around 6 p.m. when the car approached. Police say the driver, identified as Mark Saint-Pierre, had previously been involved in a crash and was fleeing that scene at the time.

Officers had responded to a call of a motor vehicle accident at a parking lot on East Gun Hill Road and Allerton Avenue, where they were informed that while attempting to leave the parking lot at that location, the driver of a 2008 Infiniti struck a parked vehicle, which was then pushed into a second parked vehicle.

The suspect then fled the scene, traveling westbound on East Gun Hill Road.

The pedestrian was hit at the intersection of Knapp Street and East Gun Hill Road. The driver then left the scene and continued on East Gun Hill Road between Boston Road and Laconia Avenue, where he struck six more vehicles.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was taken in custody, and the investigation is ongoing. Police were waiting for blood results to determine if the driver was drunk.
