Injured hawk rescued at Fordham U.

July 30, 2009 8:32:33 AM PDT
An injured hawk on the Fordham University campus was rescued by NYPD officers, who scooped up the bird and took it to the vet. The red-tailed hawk was spotted in front of Duane Library at the Rose Hill campus in the Bronx.

Another hawk, possibly a mate, came to the injured bird's defense, not letting Fordham workers near it.

Officers from the NYPD's Emergency Services Unit arrived and scooped up the injured hawk.

The hurt bird was taken to the city's Animal Care and Control for evaluation and possible rehabilitation.

Fordham University has already posted a blog on the incident on their Web site: Fordhamnotes.blogspot.com
