Two children die in window falls

I remember when I put up window guards in my apartment. Yes, they look ugly, but to me they were a things of beauty because of what they did: Protect my children.

I also remember when my kids hit the age of 10 and I took the window guards out.

I liked the looks, but felt somewhat uncomfortable: What if a small child came over? They wouldn't be protected! Irrational, I know.

Except when reality hits. Ask Eric Clapton, whose young son Conor fell from a 53-story New York City apartment window back in 1991.

And it happened again this week in Brooklyn. Twice.

Two young kids - ages 1 and 2 - falling out of windows that had no guards. Two separate incidents. Two families in mourning.

A reminder to all of us. We'll have the latest, tonight at 11.

We're also following the strong weather that's moving through our area. Meteorologist Jeff Smith, in for Lee Goldberg, is tracking the storms, at 11.

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Scott Clark with the night's sports. I hope you can join Liz Cho and me, tonight at 11.
