Late night hair salons

New York is a city that never sleeps and that means you can find many 24-hour businesses, like restaurants, gyms and drugstores. Now some hair salons are catching on and cashing-in on busy life-styles and providing beauty around the clock . When the recession started Roy Teeluck's clients started receding as well.

"We understood people were working longer hours," said Roy.

So Roy decided to entice his clients back to his salon by changing the salon's hours.

"Like most business we were 9-5," said Roy.

Now, when the day starts to fade, business for him starts to pick up.

"It's helped tremendously. We're up 20 percent because of our extended hours," said Roy.

In the meatpacking district where things don't get going until after dark, Red Market Salon stays up late as well. Here clients have time to enjoy wine and champagne, making it a more enjoyable experience. The salon opens at 2pm and closes at 11pm.

Then there's Hair 24 as in open 24 hours a day. Here, people can get their hair and nails done, plus a facial massage at 3a.m. Even 5a.m. isn't a problem. That's right, any treatment they offer during the day is available during the night--perfect for those who work odd hours.

One client says she may even come later, or would that be earlier? Either way, in a city that never sleeps getting beauty sleep maybe overrated.
