Nassau County officials unveiled their plan of attack, which focuses on prevention. They're following guidelines just issued by the federal government. For example, stay home when you are sick, separate ill students from students and staff, and practice good hygiene.
In addition to weekly conference calls between school and health officials, vaccinations will become available to the public. Doctors are encouraging parents to take advantage of the opportunity.
"I'm going to for my whole family so they don't get sick," one parent said.
Of course preventing the virus from spreading is more challenging when it comes to playgrounds and contact sports. Last week one school district instituted a no touching policy
