Her 22 year-old daughter, Olga, has been in a coma for two days.
The accident happened on Thursday at 6:30 in the evening.
Olga was crossing Nostrand Avenue at Avenue Z when she was struck by a minivan and nearly killed.
Police say the driver remained at the scene. Identified as 45 year-old Zachary Kitt, police say he had a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit.
Olga emigrated with her family from Ukraine eleven years ago. Her stepfather told us her injuries are substantial with a badly battered face and chest.
