Hate messages found on LI campus

October 2, 2009 3:08:37 PM PDT
Police are investigating messages of hate discovered across the campus of Stony Brook. More than one group was targeted.

The message came in the form of flyers posted across the campus

Mohammed Halaibeh discovered one anti-religious, anti-Muslim poster in the library on Wednesday

It was a depiction of Mohammed the Prophet that caught his eye

There was a bomb coming out of his head, Halaibeh said.

Omar Shareef, president of the Muslim Association, says dozens of hate-filled flyers began to emerge in busy areas all over the university. They included anti-Muslim, anti-Semitic and anti-Christian images

University official are working with campus police to determine who duct taped the posters to various info boards.

Surveillance video could help police find those responsible, but students insist this is a diverse and peaceful community and they want it to stay that way.
