UConn stabbing suspect due in court

November 8, 2009 9:14:58 AM PST
A Superior Court judge could decide this week whether to open the files of a 21-year-old Bloomfield man accused of fatally stabbing a University of Connecticut football player. John Lomax III is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit assault and is due back in court on Friday. He is being held on a $2 million bond and has not entered a plea.

Prosecutors say several witnesses have identified him as the Killer of 20-year-old Jasper Howard.

Five other people face charges related to the Oct. 18 fight outside UConn's student union and its aftermath, but so far authorities have not released a motive for the stabbing.

The arrest warrants in the case have been sealed.
