A New York Holiday

The special took a look at unique events and celebrations that make holidays in New York a celebration unto itself.

WABC-TV took viewers behind the scenes of some of NYC's great holiday offerings - including the Broadway show, "Irving Berlin's White Christmas," the Big Apple Circus's "Bello is Back" and the New Victory theater's funny rendition of "Chestnuts Roasting on the Flaming Idiots."

WABC-TV previewed the longtime favorite "Radio City Christmas Spectacular," took viewers to Cirque du Soleil's "Wintuk" show at Madison Square Garden's WAMU Theatre and listened in on the exquisite holiday concerts of "The Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea."

From Bryant Park to the NY Public Library and the famous Fifth Avenue holiday windows - the special took a look at some day trip destinations like the glamorous and hyper-decorated mansions of Lyndhurst and Sunnyside where the holidays come alive.

The half-hour program also took viewers on a tour of The New York Botanical Garden's "Holiday Train Show" and had tips on how to create holiday decorations on a budget. Also featured is the Tinsel Trading Company -- a destination for those looking to add glitter and sparkle to their holiday gifts and homes.

Finally, the holidays are all filled with chocolates and candy and WABC-TV visited Godiva to see how they make their yuletide favorite "Candy Cane Bark" and learn about their brand new "Legacy Truffles." The program also visited Lazar's Chocolate in Great Neck and Schmidt's Candy Store in Queens to discover the magic of home-made confections.

For those who celebrate Hanukkah, WABC-TV previewed what's in the stores by visiting Kosherfest.com and checking out the Latkes, Dreidels and personalized lollipops. The American Museum of Natural History has a Kwanzaa celebration to look forward to and a Butterfly exhibit that is a delight to visit.
