Bloomberg: Review finds more hidden accounts

NEW YORK Mayor Michael Bloomberg recently singled out the Manhattan district attorney for keeping $80 million in unreported bank accounts.

Bloomberg said Friday that the city knew of more besides the prosecutor's accounts. He said some are small and contain money from things like PTA bake sales.

He said the amounts don't matter and the public should know about every dime.

A mayoral spokesman said a preliminary review has found about $290 million in the accounts.

Nearly 500 have no obvious link to a particular agency, and contain about $70 million. The rest are linked to agencies.
