Vada Vasquez makes first public appearance

NEW YORK Vada Vasquez had breakfast with hundreds of the city's religious leaders at the mayor's annual Interfaith Breakfast.

The Bronx teen made a fully recovery after being shot in the head by a stray bullet, which lodged in her brain.

Mother and daughter joined archbishop Timothy Dolan and heads of every religion -- Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and Christian faiths -- to pray for the new year and an end to the gun violence, which almost took Vada's life.

At a time the city enjoy low crime rates, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said more needs to be done to stop gun trafficking. The commissioner also called Vada's recovery a miracle.

Vada, like a typical teen, just wants to get back to a normal life after so much time in the hospital. With the power of prayer at today's breakfast, her family knows she'll make that full recovery doctors predict.
