Watching the next storm

February 23, 2010

That was the sage judgment today from our chief meteorologist Lee Goldberg about the all-over-the-map forecasts for the next few days.

What we know, says Lee, is that the Northeast will get hit with bad weather between now and Friday night.

What we don't know is whether, for any particular area, it's all rain, or all snow, or a mixture.

But we'll know soon enough.

Meteorology is a science, but when you're dealing with Mother Nature, science is at the mercy of a moveable and variable piece of art.

Lee's tracking the powerful system, and he'll have his AccuWeather forecast, tonight at 11.

Also at 11, we'll have the latest on the health condition of former Vice President Dick Cheney. The chest pains that forced him into the hospital turned out to be a mild heart attack, the fifth for Mr. Cheney.

Apparently, his hospitalization is not dampening plans for a Bush White House reunion breakfast, with the former Veep in attendance, for this Friday. Hundreds of former staffers are expected to show up.

And finally, some good news about cars - sandwiched in the flood of otherwise bad news. Consumer Reports releasing its 2010 Top Picks of the more than 280 cars it's tested. Several new vehicles make the list - and, yes, there are some Toyotas on it as well.

Sade Baderinwa takes a look for us, at 11.

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Scott Clark in Florida for baseball's spring training. I hope you can join Liz Cho and me, tonight at 11.
