Police shoot machete-wielding man in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN The 49-year-old man was shot by the sergeant, who had responded to the apartment on East 94th Street at around 11 p.m. Sunday.

Authorities say the man's daughter called police, saying her father was emotionally disturbed.

When the sergeant and three officers responded, they were confronted by the father, who was reportedly holding a machete.

Police say the man approached them, and the officers sprayed pepper spray at him.

The father apparently continued to approach, and the sergeant fired 13 times at the man, hitting him four times in the legs.

The man was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was in stable condition.
