Prisoner cons the court and escapes

STATEN ISLAND Freddie Thompson, 35, was originally arrested on robbery charges.

A spokesman for the Staten Island DA says when he showed up at Richmond County Criminal Court, he posed as another defendant during an arraignment hearing.

The judge accepted a guilty plea under those false pretences and sentenced him to time served.

Thompson was set free before anyone realized what had happened. Police are actively looking for him.

Police said Thompson is approximately 6'3" tall and 200 lbs. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information in regards to this individual is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
