Officers rescue 3 kids from burning house on LI

WYANDANCH Suffolk County police officers were called to a house fire in Wyandanch at 10:43 a.m. Sunday. They found a 21-year-old man lying in the street with severe burns over his entire body. A woman told police her three children were still inside.

While one officer tended to the injured man, four others entered the burning house and located the children, ages 7, 2 and 6 months, and got them out safely.

The burn victim was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition. The children were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip as a precaution.
