Police responded to the call of an emotionally disturbed person.
Once inside, they confronted the 31-year-old woman and told her to drop a knife that she was holding, and sprayed her with pepper spray.
Police say the woman still refused to drop the knife and an officer shot her once in the torso.
She was rushed to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
