Hundreds remain without power in southern NJ

BRIDGETON, N.J. Atlantic City Electric said about 700 customers, mostly in Cumberland County, still didn't have power as of 6:30 p.m. But all customers were expected to have their service back by Sunday night.

Most of the remaining outages were reported around Bridgeton, which was among the areas hardest hit by Friday night's storms, which contained hail, heavy rains, lightning and strong winds.

The storms knocked down or snapped numerous power lines and damaged several utility poles, but no injuries were reported.

Several cars and area homes were also damaged by falling trees.
