Police make arrest after baby found burned

QUEENS Police say Anthony Parra admitted he held the child under hot running water inside his apartment in the Jackson Heights section of Queens.

Parra told detectives he was watching the girl while her 20-year-old mother was at work. Authorities say the baby would not stop crying while Parra was playing video games, so he held her under hot water. She was burned over about 25 percent of her body. Parra rushed her to New York Hospital of Queens, where doctors became suspicious of his explanation for the injuries. He was charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The child is in critical but stable condition at the hospital.
