Wildwood mayor to resign from police force

WILDWOOD, N.J. Earlier Wednesday, a Superior Court judge gave Gary DeMarzo of Wildwood 24 hours to pick one of the jobs.

The order by Judge Valerie Armstrong followed a February appeals court ruling that DeMarzo could not hold both jobs.

The court cited possible conflicts of interest.

DeMarzo has been on an unpaid leave of absence from the police force since winning a seat as a city commissioner in May 2007.

In December, his fellow commissioners selected him to be mayor.
