The Milford Police Department is investigating four residential burglaries, three that have occurred in the Lexington Green area and one in the Great River Golf Course area of Milford within the past six weeks. Investigators determined that access has been gained to the homes through rear sliding glass doors and windows. Once inside the homes, perpetrator(s) are going to the master bedrooms and stealing jewelry items during the early evening hours.

Police have added additional resources in these areas and made the area residents aware of the burglaries through a message delivered through "Code Red," which is a high speed telephone notification system.

The Milford Police Department is reminding all residents of the following precautions to reduce the opportunity of a burglary occurring to their home:

  • Secure doors and windows
  • Take advantage of home lighting
  • Secure valuable items in a safe or other secure location
  • Monitor any unsolicited or hang up phone calls to your home
  • Activate your home security alarm system
  • Do not confront any suspicious persons
  • Report any unusual or suspicious activity to the Police Department immediately.

Anyone with information regarding these burglaries is asked to contact the Milford Police Detective Division at (203) 783-4761.
