Natalio Mosso was walking with his cousin, Bernardo Mosso, southwest on Dixon Avenue toward Great Neck Road in Copiague when police said a black Toyota sedan that was also travelling southwest on Dixon Avenue jumped the curb and struck Natalio Mosso.
The accident happened at approximately 3:40 p.m. Mosso, of Copiague, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, who did not stop after striking the pedestrian, made a left turn on Bethpage Road, abandoned the sedan and fled on foot.
The vehicle, a black 1997 Toyota Avalon, was impounded and the investigation is continuing.
