Police impersonator wanted for larceny

NEW YORK

Police say 36-year-old Bension Mamedov takes items from store shelves and then brings them up to the register.

Investigators say he pretends to have previously purchased the items and returns them for money or store credit.

The suspect has targeted Kings Pharmacy, Duane Reade, 3 CVS locations, and a Banana Republic.

The crimes started in October 2009 and police say the suspect has struck at least 7 times, with the most recent on June 16, 2010.

Anyone with information in regards to any of these incidents, or the whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
