Body found in NJ inlet may be missing swimmer

AVON, N.J.

But it was not immediately clear when an identification would be made.

Searchers aboard a boat found the body around noon in the Shark River Inlet off Avon. It was later taken to a nearby Coast Guard Station, but further details on the discovery were not immediately disclosed.

The Monmouth County Medical Examiner's Office was working to identify the body, which may be that of 20-year-old Pardip Singh.

The Carteret man went into the ocean at Belmar on Thursday night with a group of friends but did not emerge, and a subsequent search was suspended Friday due to rough conditions.
