Authorities say three armed men forced their way into a house on Oregon Avenue around 11 p.m. Sunday and demanded cash from the occupants. As the men searched the home, two of the seven occupants escaped and called 911.
Authorities say one person in the home was assaulted and suffered serious injuries after being struck with the gun. He was treated for facial lacerations at Good Samaritan Hospital.
The thieves then tried to flee the house, but officers had surrounded the area. A loaded .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver was recovered at the residence.
The suspects, identified as 29-year-old Hasheen McLaurin, 40-year-old Darrick Harrison and 37-year-old Kermit Williams, are charged with burglary and criminal use of a firearm.
