Police said the driver of a four door Sedan traveling eastbound on Middle Country Road just west of Wood Rd. lost control of the vehicle just before 7:00 p.m.
The vehicle crossed a double yellow line and struck a white passenger van.
The two occupants in the Sedan died, police said.
The driver of the van was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center. His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
