Teen wounded by stray bullet

EAST HARLEM

Neighbors were still shaking 24 hours after the shooting.

It happened at 5 p.m. on New Year's Day during an argument, witnesses say, over a parking space on 107th Street, just off of 5th Avenue.

Witnesses say the gunman blasted the car with a series of shots.

One of them grazed the head of a 13-year-old boy in the back seat.

He was rushed down the street to Mt. Sinai Hospital where he was treated and released.

The gunman barricaded himself inside an apartment across the street and was later arrested.

Parking is difficult in New York to begin with, but last week's snowstorm has only made things worse.

So, too, has the availability of handguns.

Neighbors in the area are saddened but not entirely surprised.

The gunman has been identified as 44 year-old Miguel Padilla of the Bronx.

He is charged with weapons possession and attempted murder.
