LI man charged with harassing NYC lawmaker

HICKSVILLE, NY

Nassau County police say 55-year-old James Guarnaccio was arraigned Saturday for aggravated harassment after making about 40 rambling calls to Ackerman's Queens office over a few weeks, then making seven more on Thursday and Friday after being warned to stop by police.

Authorities say that in one of the recent calls, Guarnaccio made threats against law enforcement. He was arrested Friday and hospitalized for evaluation at Nassau University Medical Center.

His arraignment took place by his hospital bed, and he was ordered held on $100,000 bond.

Guarnaccio is represented by the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County, which did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
