Despite the rainy, cold weather Coney Island officially opened on Saturday for the 2011 season.

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz had a hard time breaking a bottle of champagne on the front of "The Cyclone" roller coaster.

But with a little help from a fellow Brooklyner the bottle didn't stand a chance.

And keeping with tradition, the first 100 people got to ride the legendary roller coaster for free.

Last season, more than 400,000 people visited Coney Island Amusement Park, that's the most visitors in nearly 50 years.
